Reign of Terror obstacle course run- Health and Well-being

Obstacle courses are fun and exciting but it is important to prepare our health and skin prior to the event. I have put together some useless tips to help you look and feel your best on the day.

Cold Harsh weather conditions can deprive your complexion of moisture and wreak havoc on your skin.

Humidity levels tend to drop off in the autumn and winter months. The drier the air, the more moisture it sucks from your skin, so you’re more likely to experience dryness and flakiness during the colder months of the year, especially if you’re prone to eczema or other dry skin conditions.

Here is advice on how to protect your skin and well-being not only for the obstacle run but useful tips for the upcoming winter months.

Skincare –

  • Protection – SPF is so important. UVA and UVB  sun rays are damaging to your skin, over time it breaks down the elastin on the skin which causes premature Aging. Over exposure to the skin results in fine lines and wrinkles mostly on the face, neck and hands. Pigmentation is also caused by sun damage especially on darker skin tones. The biggest mistake most people make is only wearing SPF when the sun is shining. We are exposed to sun rays every day even in winter.
  • Moisturise is the key. Find a moisturizer that is oil based rather than water based, as the oil will create a protective layer on the skin that will retain more moisture.
  • Exfoliate – Our skin sheds every 28 days so it is important we help our skin remove any dead skin cells  remaining   Exfoliation removes any dead cells and rejuvenates the skin. Cold weather can dry out the skin so exfoliation is needed  more in autumn, winter months.
  • Cleansing – Throughout the day the skin on your face is continually covered with bacteria, pollutants, viruses, dirt, and old dead skin cells. Daily facial washing removes these impurities to give the skin a fresh look .
  • Hydration – Dont hydrate just for your skin, hydrate for your internal organs. Health reflects from the inside out. Water will Help energize Muscles. Lack of water can result in muscle fatigue. Drink water before your workout, and drink water at regular intervals to replace fluids lost by sweating. Water also helps your skin looking good, lack of water in the body causes your skin to become dehydrated which can cause fine lines, wrinkles and a dull complexion. Drinking two litres per day will help reduces dehydration on the skin
  • Hand-cream – Our hands are our tools, we have them exposed daily in all conditions. Apply a hand cream every morning and evening to keep them soft and radiant.

Health care Multi vitamins

  •  Boosts immunity: Vitamin C is a strong antioxidant known for strengthening the immune system. Vitamins D and E boost immunity, too. These vitamins can also help reduce allergy symptoms.
  • Healthy hair and skin:  Vitamins B3 (Niacin), biotin, and Vitamin C for fuller hair. For healthy skin, look for Vitamins A, C, E, and CoQ10.
  • Feel better: Vitamin B will boost energy levels, feelings of well-being, as well as a decrease in stress and anxiety.

Clothing

  • Don’t wear big, cotton t-shirts or sweatpants. Cotton will absorb water, add weight, and slow you down. It can become very uncomfortable. Wear gloves to protect your hands.

OK , so if you don’t want to go bared faced here is some quick and easy tips on still looking good while getting dirty.

  • Waterproof Mascara is a must , you don’t want panda eyes.
  • Oil free Foundation
  • Pressed face powder will Set your foundation on the skin and prevent it transferring throughout the day.

Hair care

  • Heat protection spray. Our hair can also become dry and brittle in colder conditions and can also lose moisture. Heat protection spray will create a barrier on the hair follicles to prevent any loss of moisture
  • Hair masks will replace lost moisture. Apply a mask once a week.
  • Plaits. Keep your hair back off your face, plaits are super stylish and easy to achieve.
  • Headbands are a great option for shorter hair and still stylish lots of colour options available.

Catwalk HQ Tan – Summer goals

Catwalk HQ Tan – Summer goals

Hey guys

This weeks blog is about the newest tan on the market at the moment, which you might not have heard of yet Catwalk HQ.

catwalk

I am a massive tan addict. I love testing all different tans on the market. I love looking bronzed and golden, it gives me so much more confidence. I have had my ups and downs with Tanning products. Every skin type is different, it is important to find a tan suitable to your skin type therefore its all about trial and error. Summer is also approaching , which requires more body parts exposed and we all want to look sun-kissed and bronzed.  I have found the perfect Tan.

My Top Tan at the moment is Catwalk HQ. Where do I even start, I just am in love with it. It is an Irish product and produced in the west of Ireland. I love when Irish brands create amazing products,we are seeing a lot more fantastic Irish products coming into the beauty industry over the past few years. Firstly they do not test on animals and it contains no parabens or harmful ingredients. It is full of antioxidants which are good for our skin, which is amazing.

Its a mousse formula that is available in a medium and dark shade. It smells divine and feels super soft on the skin during application. Its very easy to blend onto the skin with the help of their own branded velvet mitt. Drying time is about 2 minutes and develops within 2-4 hours. I personally leave mine over night and shower in the morning as I like my Tan to be a nice deep shade.

The catwalk tan lasts a good week and it fades gradually.

I get so many compliments when im wearing the tan and have been using it the last two months. Overall its an amazing tanning product and it gets a 10 /10  from me.

Foundation was Mac Studio fix fluid and Nars radiant creamy concealer.

The eyes were all Matte tones with lashes and smoked in the waterline to add definition.

Its all about the base- Why you need a Skincare regime

Its all about the base- Why you need a Skincare regime

Since my teenager years I have always been interested in my skincare regime. I ventured into the beauty industry before my makeup artistry studies which helped me thoroughly understand how the skin works and what it needs.

Looking after your skin is essential, not only to have healthy radiant skin but also gives you a flawless base for your foundation. This is a factor that most women and men don’t understand. Do you ever question “why is my foundation not lasting”?.  Makeup needs a fresh clean base, to adhere the products.

The skin constantly produces new cells but as we get older the process slows down so we need to work with our skin and give it some help. A build up of cells on the skin can give a rough texture with a flakey appearance.  For radiant glowing skin new fresh cells are needed on the top layer of the skin.

First of all know your skin type, there are so many skincare products out there to suit each type of skin. Believe it or not using the wrong products for your skin can be more damaging then not using any products at all.  Skincare products do not have to be expensive. I have found some great high street brands that work wonders so search around, boots do fantastic ranges suitable for all ages and price range.

  1.  Bin the face wipes – Please do not use wipes to cleanse your face everyday. Wipes are too abrasive for the skin and do not give the skin a deep cleanse.
  2. Cleanse -cleansing the skin will remove  dirt on the surface of the skin.  Cleansing the skin should be done twice daily every morning and evening. Cleansers come in many different forms lotions, creams, balms and oils.
  3. Toning- Helps tighten the skin and pores, removes trace of any cleanser on the skin and refreshes the skin. Use every morning and evening.
  4. Exfoliate- Helps to remove dead skin cells. Exfoliation should be done twice a week for oily skin and once a week for normal to dry skin.
  5. Mask- Helps penetrate the skin with ingredients suitable for the skin type. Apply once a week.
  6. Serum – serums are lighter in texture than moisturisers but contain more active ingredients. More suitable for mid twenties upwards. I wouldn’t recommend for teenage skin. Apply only every evening.
  7. Moisturiser -Helps keep the skin soft and hydrated and acts as a barrier to protect the skin. Apply every morning and evening.
  8. Eye cream- Helps keep the eyes hydrated apply every morning and evening around the eye socket.
  9. Spf – Apply every morning

Hope this helps
